Danniella Westbrook struggling with depression since falling ill with Covid

TV star Danniella Westbrook has opened up about her struggles with her mental health while battling Covid-19 over the last few weeks.

The former EastEnders actress was left bedbound when she was diagnosed with the deadly virus after her depression hit an all-time low while she self-isolated for more than a fortnight.

The 47 year old finally ventured out of the house on Sunday for her first day trip since she contracted coronavirus with a close family friend.

After the blonde beauty returned home from Friends Fest, she shared her struggles with depression in a vulnerable video on her Instagram stories.

In the short clip online, Danniella shared how dark her mental health had been throughout the two-week isolation period.

Speaking to her loyal legion of fans, she admitted: “I had a great day at Friends Fest after coming out of Covid and literally a week and a half of depression.

“It was severe, severe depression, I was literally getting out of bed just to eat and sometimes not even to wash.”

The mum-of-two went on to thank her dear friend who helped her throughout her illness and pushed her to leave the house after she recovered.

“It was much needed that I got up and went out today,” she shared, “and a huge thank you to my good mate Kelli Hollis and her family for coming to get me and making me leave the house, get up and get my s**t together.”

“Depression is in all of us and none of us can escape it, it’s just how it manifests sometimes.”

Danniella blamed her recent bout of depression due to her diagnosis and her loneliness while she isolated in her home.

She added: “For me, it’s particularly bad since I had Covid, but I feel like I have turned a corner so thank you guys.

“Thanks to my kids for their support, they have been on the end of the phone 24/7.”

The soap actress is mum to her 23 year old son Kai and her daughter Jodie, 19, who she shares with her ex-husband Kevin Jenkins.
