Drake Bell sentenced to two years' probation for 'endangering children'

The former Nickelodeon star Drake Bell, whose real name is Jared Bell, has been sentenced to two years probation after pleading guilty to crimes against a child.

Bell, 35, appeared virtually for sentencing which took place at Cuyahoga County Common Pleas courtroom with Judge Timothy McCormick on July 12.

He received two years probation after admitting to one count of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles and one count of attempted endangering of children, back in June of this year.

During the hearing, Bell was called a “monster” by the unnamed Ohio female, now 19.

According to the prosecution, the victim spoke with the police department in Canada in 2018 to file a report about the incident that had taken place in Cleveland in December 2017.

It was at this point police in Canada opened up an investigation along with Cleveland authorities.

Statements that had been submitted to the court prior to sentencing today claimed that Bell had “violated his duty of care and, in doing so, created a risk of harm” for a girl who attended one of his concerts.

The victim spoke about the incident in a statement that read: “The pain that the defendant has caused me is indescribable, and it worsens every day.

“Being used by somebody who meant the world to me has left me feeling more hurt than I have ever been before.”

Bell has acknowledged engaging in messages of a sexual nature with the girl.

Bell was sentenced to two years probation, 200 hours of community service in California, and is forbidden from having any contact with the victim.

Born in California, Bell began his acting career as a child star, making his first televised appearance in Home Improvement at the age of five.

His big break came when he was cast in The Amanda Show, starring alongside Amanda Bynes in the Nickelodeon hit.

Running from 2004 to 2007, Drake and Josh was a commercial success, enjoying its highest ratings in its fourth and final season.
