EastEnders' Danny Dyer wants to be new James Bond but admits Doctor Who is 'dream role'

EastEnders actor Danny Dyer has revealed he would love to be the next James Bond – but admits Doctor Who would be his dream role.

The Queen Vic landlord, 44, loves the 007 films and believes the next iteration of the beloved secret agent could speak Cockney.

His daughter Dani said on their Sorted With The Dyers podcast: “The new Bond film has come out.

“I want to get into those kind of films. You know it’s the big thing when they’re like who’s going to be the next James Bond?”

Danny replied: “Yeah that’s a thing. I see how you’re looking at me there.

“What you laughing at? It could be a Cockney Bond on the scene. Why not?

“The Bond franchise is a massive thing. People love it and I love it. I taped You Only Live Twice the other day which is with Sean Connery.

“He was my Bond. It wasn’t my era but he was just the man. He started the whole thing off.

“He was the governor, Sean. Although I do love Daniel Craig – someone I’ve worked with. He’s just a Scouser really. He’s changed his accent a bit but he embellishes something. He’s a sexy actor and a great man.”

Danny also has his eyes set on another huge role with the first female Doctor Who Jodie Whittaker set to step down next year.

He added: “What I do fancy, I’d like to be Doctor Who.”

But before leaping into the starring role of a global franchise, TV’s hard man wants to give Celebrity MasterChef a go to show off his secret skills in the kitchen.

Danny said: “I put everything into my cooking. I do enjoy doing it. I do want to do Celebrity MasterChef at some point. I’d like to have a go but I haven’t got a f******g clue what I’d be doing. I’d like to get involved with some more of that cooking stuff on the telly. I love a bit of cooking.”

Daughter Dani added: “I think you’d be fantastic on it. I think it’s lovely when a man can cook. You make a lovely Spaghetti Bolognese. The best Spaghetti Bolognese I’ve ever ate.”
