Emmerdale fans in tears as 'brave' Priya finally looks at painful burns on back

Emmerdale fans were left feeling emotional after Priya Kotecha (Fiona Wade) finally took a look at her scars from the recent maize maze fire.

Priya has been really struggling with her self worth since she was burned in the fire, but decided to take things into her own hands and face her worries head on.

In a heartbreaking scene with Leyla (Roxy Shahidi), Priya mustered up the courage to shed her baggy clothes and look at her burns.

She was left in tears after looking in the mirror, but ITV fans watching at home had nothing but praise for her.

One person said: “A powerful scene from Fiona Wade just now. Priya is so brave.”

Another tweeted: “OMG poor Priya!”

A third wrote: “Well done Priya you’re so brave.”

And plenty of others shared crying and heartbroken emojis.

Priya star Fiona Wade recently opened up about where her storyline could be going.

She said: “I think Priya is a very body conscious girl, she’s a perfectionist. You never see her not looking like everything’s in place. So, this is literally like her worst nightmare.

“Even though she has seen [her scars], I think the things that she conjures up in her head of what it might look like… it’s like her life is over.

“She’ll never be the same, she’ll never feel the same. So, I think she built it up to be really bad in her mind anyway, and I think seeing it hasn’t made her feel any better.”

Priya is set to spiral back into her eating disorder as a way to try and get some control back into her life.

Fiona said: “Obviously we’ve done the [eating disorder] storyline previously but I think something that Emmerdale and the writers have been really good at is that these things don’t just go away.

“They’re there and you have to work on yourself all the time to get through that illness and I think with something link this, she’s suddenly out of control.

“She’s very body conscious and this is just going to spiral her really in that direction because she can’t move very much and she has to make sure she eats a lot for everything to heal.”

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7pm, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays, on ITV
