Emmerdale's Lydia arrested, Meena meddles and Nicola and Jimmy split sealed

Emmerdale fans have a busy week coming up, with some major updates in a number of characters’ relationships – both bad and good.

With Emmerdale spoilers revealing one couple are set to take the next step, another appear to have come to the end of the road.

Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) has a big question for girlfriend Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi) – but it could all go wrong.

And Jimmy King (Nick Miles) has a huge decision to make with his own marriage.

Elsewhere, unsuspecting Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) gets arrested – just another issue coming her way after discovering that she’d been left in major debt after nasty Paul Ashdale took out credit cards in her name before his death.

Mandy (Lisa Riley) encourages Lydia to apply for a job at a local school as pupil liaison officer, after seeing how well she got on with her counselling session with Vinny (Bradley Johnson).

Lydia gets some coaching from Mandy and Sam (James Hooton) and they assure she’s a born counsellor, and she seems confident in her ability afterwards.

She prepares for her video interview at the cafe but her laptop keeps getting dodgy pop-ups.

After her interview, her excitement soon evaporates when a police officer enters the cafe and arrests her on suspicion of running a scam pension scheme.

Nicola King (Nichole Wheeler) suggests that she might be guilty, leaving the Dingles fuming.

Lydia is taken to the police station.

Sam realises who is probably behind the crime and erupts with anger.

Meanwhile, Mandy turns on Nicola, angry that she’s spreading gossip about Lydia.

Meena meddles

Meena ruins Liam’s proposal after getting jealous of David and Leyla’s friendship

Liam has enlisted the help of David (Matthew Wolfenden) to set up his proposal to Leyla.

But Meena (Paige Sandhu) is left jealous, thinking there’s something going on between Leyla and David, completely unaware of what’s actually going on.

When Meena sees David heading over to Leyla in the street she’s upset.

He delays Leyla until he’s given a signal that Liam is ready to propose.

They part ways, completely platonically, but Meena is raging to see them so close.

She thinks Leyla might be trying to steal David, and rudely interrupts Liam’s attempted proposal.

David realises that the proposal isn’t going to plan, so is forced to explain to Meena that he was with Leyla to give time for Liam to plan the big moment.

With the surprise blown, Liam is upset, but Leyla is touched by the lengths he’s been going for her and suggests he tries again.

Liam delivers a speech from the heart and, overjoyed, says: “Yes!”

The happy couple celebrate their engagement, but David and Meena are suddenly not looking like such a stable couple.

Nicola and Jimmy split sealed

It looks like there’s a final nail in the coffin for Nicola and Jimmy.

He explains to Nicola that he thinks their marriage might have run its course.

His big decision comes after learning that she was trying to get him to sign over his business to Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins).

It looks like it might be for the best though, as this week viewers see him charged with death by dangerous driving.

Will Nicole and Jimmy work it out, or are they completely over?

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7pm, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays on ITV
