Ex-Coronation Street star Craig Charles 'worried' after testing positive for Covid

Former Coronation Street star Craig Charles has revealed he has Covid.

The 57-year-old, who is best known to his fans for his roles as Lloyd Mullaney on the Cobbles and Dave Lister in BBC comedy Red Dwarf took to Twitter to update fans on his health.

Craig penned: “Okay guys I don’t want to alarm. But I’ve caught the Covid.

“Breathing is a bit laboured which is a worry but I’ve got an oxymonitor so so far no hospital.”

He finished off his tweet by saying: “Starting to feel a bit better. But have to isolate. Sorry to let everyone down. Back soon.”

Showing their support to the actor, fans shared their words of encouragement under his post.

Replying to his tweet, one fan wrote: “Craig, you kept my family sane in lockdown; we would throw on your show and listen together in the garden. You have absolutely nothing to apologize for and haven’t let down anyone at all.

“Get well soon man, you’ll be spinning that funk and soul again in no time.”

Another said: “Oh no! We wish you a speedy recovery – my pup Lister suggests bed rest and lots of it, we need you!”

A third penned: “Wishing you a speedy recovery from Canada! We tune in most every week!”

While a fourth fan tweeted: “Hang in there, Craig! The world needs David Lister–and definitely YOU!”

Craig parted ways from Coronation Street in September 2015 after ten years of acting on the famous soap.

The star then went on to film new episodes of Red Dwarf. He also went on to continue his BBC Radio 6 Music and BBC Radio 2 broadcasting.

As well as acting and broadcasting, the performer also appeared on ITV’s reality show I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

Despite his excitement to appear on the programme, on November, 20, Charles left the series soon after he discovered that his brother Dean had passed away from a heart attack.

Away from the cameras, Craig has also battled with drug addiction.

But after hitting the headlines for drug abuse, last year, the star admitted that newspaper reports helped him to join Narcotics Anonymous and straighten out his personal life.
