Gemma Collins secretly supported Tilly Ramsay after she was fat-shamed by radio host

Gemma Collins has revealed she comforted Strictly’s Tilly Ramsay after she was fat-shamed.

The GC said she was also targeted at the same time and was left in tears as it brought back bad memories of previous abuse.

Tilly, 19, was on the receiving end of nasty comments from LBC host Steve Allen who labelled her a “chubby little thing”.

Referring to her father, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, he added: “Probably her dad’s cooking I should imagine.”

Towie queen Gemma said she was then brought into it on social media and felt she had to reach out.

She explained: “I was impressed by Tilly’s gracious response on social media especially as I have faced not very nice comments myself in the past.

“I actually sent Tilly a private message and a voice note the next day.

“What happened was, I was actually taking my nephews to London and then on the way my nephew said, ‘Oh, someone’s called you fat.’

“And I’m like, ‘Oh don’t read it, Hayden’ because I know it does upset the kids.

“And they’re like, ‘Oh no, they’ve said it about Tilly Ramsey as well, they’ve made unkind remarks about you both.’

“Anyway, when I got to London I was just so upset, it really did upset our day.”

Speaking on her latest podcast, Gemma said the fat-shaming left her sobbing over previous taunts aimed at her.

She said: “She’s absolutely wonderful that girl. Shaming people about their weight or how they look is for me very, very bad.

“Look, it makes people feel better about themselves, they have issues with it but Tilly Ramsey is beautiful as she is.

“But me being brought into them stories, you know, I had to relive it and I’d forgotten about the person who had said it.

“And I actually thought, ‘How did I build my career being targeted constantly about my weight?’

“And I’m so proud of myself. I actually watched one of the old TV shows that I was on and I had tears running down my eyes.

It’s bringing tears to my eyes talking about it now.”

Gemma, 40, said she was watching an old episode of TOWIE when she was a lot slimmer and felt she looked “ill”.

She added: “I was crying because I was so targeted and bullied about my weight.

“And that could have broken me so I must be a strong person.

“The guy that done it apologised to Tilly – I never got my apologies but I know karma works in wonderful ways.
