GMB reporter cringes as Queen's birthday tribute is interrupted by bin lorry

Good Morning Britain regular Jonathan Swain was left cringing on Wednesday morning after his segment was interrupted by a poorly timed bin lorry

The roving reporter was speaking live from outside Windsor Castle to discuss Her Majesty The Queen’s 95th birthday when a bin lorry after to roll into view.

As Jonathan tried to give a poignant segment in which he explained the birthday will not be marked with celebration due to Her Majesty being in royal mourning of he late husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

Buckingham Palace has confirmed no official portrait of the Queen will not be released this year due to the current events.

Ever the professional, Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid opted not to mention the awkward live TV fail, though Jonathan late took to Twitter to make light of the situation.

Taking to Twitter, Jonathan wrote: “Not quite the sombre respectful tone I was going for – as the bins were being emptied during our first broadcast about the Queen’s first birthday as a widow. @GMB @ranvir01.”

Alongside post, the ITV regular posted a snap showing the stunning morning sky above Windsor Castle with a large red dustbin lorry in the foreground.

Not only was the lorry parked up in full view, but a member of staff could be seen helping empty another bin into the back of it.

Replying to the spot, one fan wrote: “Funny enough it’s bin day in my area too…the realities of normal life ‘eh.”

Another suggested: “I am sure the Queen would understand. The bin men didn’t plan it I am sure! Maybe do the broadcasting 5 mins after they left?”

Meanwhile, a third wrote: “Could of just waited 5 minutes, but I suppose it’s their 30 seconds of fame.”

During the segment, ITV confirmed that controversial Royal Prince Harry has decided to fly back to America to join his wife Meghan Markle before The Queen’s birthday.

Rumours were rife that The Duke of Sussex would opted to extend his UK trip for 24 hours to be with his grieving Grandmother.

While Harry was at Prince Philip’s funeral on Saturday, former Suits actress Meghan was not due to her being heavily pregnant with their second child.

In line with government guidelines, all members of the royal family observed social distancing and wore masks.

Heartbreakingly, Her Majesty sat alone during the stripped-back service at St George’s Chapel.
