GMB's Charlotte Hawkins bluntly corrects Dominic Raab after awkward name blunder

Good Morning Britain’s Charlotte Hawkins bluntly corrected MP Dominic Raab after he got her name wrong live on Thursday’s programme.

The Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs was featuring on the daytime show to chat about covid vaccinations and whether people are “selfish” for not getting them done.

During the discussion, Charlotte said: “Do you agree with Michael Gove that says that those who don’t have the vaccine are selfish?”

Dominic then replied: “Sophie, that way I’d say is, look, get the vaccination because it’s in your own interest but also it’s in the interest of your family, your community and the country as a whole. That’s the way I’d frame it.”

After his awkward blunder, Charlotte came back to quickly correct him on his mistake by saying: “Ok, it’s Charlotte, by the way. Just so you know.”

He quickly chimed in to say “Sorry, sorry,” and threw his hands up to show his sincerity.

Charlotte responded with: “That’s ok. I’ll let you off just this once.”

She then went back to chatting about the covid vaccine, the current debate which doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

Dominic then looked a little red-faced and embarrassed as he apologised for the mistake.

This came after Michael Gove’s comment regarding all unvaccinated people are making a conscious selfish decision.

Speaking during a visit to Glasgow, the MP said: “Ultimately, if you can be vaccinated and you refuse to, that is a selfish act.

“You’re putting other people’s health and lives at risk, you should get vaccinated.”

He said he thought “some form of certification” was “the right way to go” to try to avoid the further spread of the virus at “certain venues and certain events”.

The government plans to make full vaccination for those not covered by an exemption a condition of entry for nightclubs in England from September.

Earlier on the show, there was another cringey moment – but this time between the GMB hosts.

Alex Beresford suggested his co-host Charlotte should try riding him and Sean Fletcher like a horse.

This came after a segment where the GMB team chatted to Charlotte Dujardin’s sister and friend, following her Olympic triumphs on Wednesday.

Alex welcomed viewers back and discussed the realisation that Charlotte was an ample horse rider too after she revealed she has experience in dressage just like the British sports champion.

He said: “Welcome back to Good Morning Britain, during the break, we established that Charlotte Hawkins actually does dressage, you kept that quiet.”

Charlotte replied: “Well I didn’t really know, because I have done quite a lot of horseriding and it was only when she was talking about the half pass and everything, that I actually thought ‘I’ve done a half pass’.”
