Gogglebox's Jenny and Lee bag £20k advert deal after upsetting Channel 4 viewers

Gogglebox favourites Lee Riley and Jenny Newby have reportedly landed themselves a £20,000 deal for a new advert.

The best friends from Leeds are thought to be picking up £10,000 each for the Channel 4 show’s partnership with Citroen motors.

Three other families will also appear in the ads for the French car manufacturers new electric vehicles.

Eccentric duo Giles Wood and Mary Killen, Marcus Luther and his partner Mica Ven and siblings Pete and Sophie Sandiford will also offering their views on the brand’s new motor in the new trailer.

According to The Sun, all the show’s stars will receive cash to avoid rows between cast members.

An insider told the publication: “Those couples will be getting a little bit an extra for the work they’ve put in on the ads, but everyone is getting at least £10,000 each as not everyone can appear in the commercials and it wouldn’t be fair for some people to miss out and not share in the popularity of the show.”

Jenny and Lee, who joined the cast of Gogglebox in 2014, apologised to their fans last month after sharing an emotional update about the current series coming to an end.

The pair revealed that as the recent series aired its final episode, Jenny would be leaving Lee’s caravan to go back and live with her husband after three months of living with her co-star.

Fans were left worried by their message, forcing Jenny and Lee to say sorry to their fans and clear up the confusion.

Posting on their joint Twitter page, they posted: “It’s Friday it’s Gogglebox D Day for Jenny. Did Jenny get it right see ya at 9 to find out xx #Gogglebox.”

Fans quickly rushed to comment on the post to ask if the pair were leaving the show for good or just marking the last episode.

One posted: “Lee are you guys finished with Gogglebox or just saying goodbye for end of the series? You guys have been so funny.”

The pair quickly apologised for the confusion as they replied: “Just saying goodbye to series 17 back in September sorry.”
