Gogglebox's Paige Deville says 'my life wasn't my own' when on Channel 4 show

Former Gogglebox star Paige Deville has expressed that she is a lot happier now she has left the show.

The 25-year-old, who was rumoured to have had a rift with her mother Sally Hayward said she is excited for the future now that she has quit the award winning Channel 4 programme.

Paige and her mum Sally spent two years on the show but she felt it was now time to leave as her life was “not her own”.

Speaking candidly, the star confessed that she is in a better place.

Talking to Birmingham Live she explained: “I really am in a good place at the moment. I am really happy. I had two years at Gogglebox and it was fun to begin with.”

She continued: “But it was long hours and hard work and not as glamorous as it may appear. I was running my own recruitment business then working a nine hour shift late into the night for Gogglebox where I sometimes finished filming at 12.30am.

“My life wasn’t my own. I had to be very careful on social media as representatives at Gogglebox would monitor it. I would be hassled when I went shopping. Now I feel I have got my life back.”

Last month, Paige took to Twitter to express that she had quit the show and she also hit out at programme bosses,

She said: “I have made the decision to walk away from Gogglebox.”

“It’s been an experience but one I cannot continue with due to long hours of filming, restrictiveness, control of our actions and opinions & zero aftercare support but hey who cares about ex cast, their NTA winners.”

Paige is now focussing on running her recruitment company called Palm Recruitment based in Staffordshire.

The business finds jobs for those in management, sales, admin and HR to therapists, as well as hairdressers and spa advisors.

The TV personality’s younger sister also work for her firm and she is planning to hire more staff in the near future.
