Hollyoaks' John Paul arrested as Sally gets suspicious over abuser George

Hollyoaks favourite John Paul McQueen (James Sutton) gets arrested during Thursday’s E4 first-look episode after George Kiss (Callum Kerr) spreads doubt and suspicions against his boyfriend following his recent injury.

Fans of the Channel 4 soap have seen George’s behaviour take a disturbing turn in recent weeks as he continues to control and manipulate John Paul.

Viewers watched George accidentally walk into a cupboard door earlier this week while having some fun with John Paul.

He later headed to the hospital with a suspected broken nose and enjoyed taking the opportunity to let Peri believe that his boyfriend was to blame for the injury.

As word started to spread around the village, a worried Courtney Campbell (Amy Conachan) asked George whether John Paul had been hurting him.

Courtney shares her concerns with Sally St Claire (Annie Wallace), leaving John Paul angry and he tells his friends to stop interfering.

However, Peri and Courtney decide to report their friend to the police and he gets arrested for common assault.

Opening up about his character’s shock arrest, actor James Sutton told Daily Star: “He’s hurt that his close friends could do this to him and think he’s capable of hurting George.

“The first person John Paul wants to believe in any situation is George, even over his friends and family.

“He’s deeply in love with George so his sense of morality has gone out the window a little bit.

“It’s his friends and family who notice things first but he pushes them away and refuses to listen. This is all part what abusers are capable of.”

Actor Callum Kerr, who has played the role of PC George Kiss since last year, added: “Half way through the consultation with Peri, George realises there is a chance he can use this to manipulate the situation further.

The policeman injured his nose while having some playful fun with John Paul

“The weaker the position John Paul is in, the stronger the position George is in.

“He knows if there’s potential for a physical abuse arrest there, he can also play the guy that saves John Paul from going jail.

“It’s another way to slowly gain 100 per cent control.”

Following his injury, George sits down with DS Cohen in Salon De Thé for an informal chat about his relationship with John Paul following his arrest.

Sally tells John Paul that she doesn’t think George is the hero that he’s been making himself out to be

Little does he know that Sally St Claire (Annie Wallace) is present in the café and she’s left concerned when the policeman fail to deny that John Paul hurt him.

Sally later tells John Paul that she doesn’t think George is the hero that he’s been making himself out to be.

Opening up on whether Sally could be the one to take down evil George, actress Annie Wallace said: “This is the turning point for Sally when she really thinks I don’t think he is who he says he is.
