India Reynolds hits out at Love Island bosses for not casting 'curvier' women

Model India Reynolds recently lashed out at ITV2’s Love Island, claiming they fail to cast curvier women.

India, who catapulted to fame on the reality show in 2019 ,and became a finalist alongside basket player Ovie Soko said she was shocked to be considered as one of the more curvaceous contestants in that series, despite only being a size 10 at the time.

Love Island 2021 is expected to make an explosive return to our screens this summer, but brunette bombshell India has called out the programme for not being diverse enough with casting.

Talking candidly to The Sun on Sunday, India, 30, explained: “It was mad that I was considered curvy on the show.

“I’m a dress size 10, which is smaller than average.”

She added: “When I came out, I realised there was a huge misrepresentation of women’s bodies because if people are looking at me and thinking I’m the curvy one then the general scale is way off.”

But India is not the only previous contestant to speak out on body image since leaving the show.

Former Islanders Molly Smith and Zara McDermott previously spoke about the comments they would receive from people who would often body shame them because of their size.

Molly who appeared in the 2020 winter series of Love Island clapped back on social media last year, after a follower commented on her size.

Molly wrote: “I’ve had a few comments about being ‘too skinny’ … that I need to eat more etc … I’ve actually never been so healthy. Telling someone they’re too skinny isn’t ok, no one knows the background of that person.”

She continued: “I work hard at the gym and enjoy my workouts and PT’s with @zakmason__ (even though I annoy him) and I’m so appreciative of how hard he pushes me and helps me. Also @francisdiet has helped me to understand food and maintain a healthier lifestyle – I’ve actually never eaten so much.”

Last year, Made In Chelsea star Zara, who appeared in the 2018 series also spoke about how the online comments regarding her body made her feel.

She explained online: “I never thought those kinds of comments could hurt me, but if I’m honest they hurt me more than the fat-shaming comments. Why?

“Because I have worked so hard to get to where I am, I have spent so much time changing my lifestyle and focusing on being healthier.

“I can now walk up a hill without feeling out of breath, I can run down the road and feel absolutely fine, my mental health has never been better.”

Previous Love Island contestant Anna Vakili who appeared on the show in 2019 was also considered to be “plus-size”, however this infuriated fans, as she was only a size 10-12 at the time.
