Jada Pinkett Smith says sex life with husband Will is 'hard' after years of marriage

Jada Pinkett Smith has confessed that sex chats with husband Will Smith can often leave her feeling “uncomfortable”.

The actress, 50, explained that intimacy was “hard” to maintain after years of marriage.

The Nutty Professor star admitted she’d fallen into bad habits of expecting her husband to know her desires in the bedroom.

Will’s wife now believes that better communication is the key to having a healthier sex life with the Men In Black star, 53.

Speaking openly about bedroom antics on her Facebook Live series Red Table Talk with guest Gwyneth Paltrow, she said: “The thing Will and I talk about a lot is the journey. We started in this at a very young age, you know, 22 years old.

“That’s why the accountability part really hit for me because I think you expect your partner to know (what you need), especially when it comes to sex,” added Jada.

“It’s like, ”Well, if you love me, you should know. If you love me, you should read my mind.’ That’s a huge pitfall.”

American actress and businesswoman Gwyneth Paltrow joined in with the chat before discussing her upcoming Netflix series Sex, Love and Goop.

Agreeing, Gwyneth remarked: “Isn’t it weird, though? It’s like someone doesn’t read your mind and we feel crushed.”

The Fresh Prince star and his wife were both in their early 20s when they tied the knot in 1997.

Jada explained that having years of marital experience, she now understands and “really tries” to communicate her needs better when it comes to sex.

She added: “It’s uncomfortable, but it’s deeply healthy and I think around sex, because it’s something that we don’t talk about and there’s so much fantasy around it.”

Last month, Will confirmed that he and Jada had both decided to have an open marriage after realising that a monogamous relationship no longer worked for them.

The actor revealed to GQ: “Jada never believed in conventional marriage… Jada had family members that had an unconventional relationship.

“So she grew up in a way that was very different than how I grew up.”

The movie star went on to explain: “We have given each other trust and freedom, with the belief that everybody has to find their own way. And marriage for us can’t be a prison.

“And I don’t suggest our road for anybody. I don’t suggest this road for anybody. But the experiences that the freedoms that we’ve given one another and the unconditional support, to me, is the highest definition of love.”

Will’s confession about his marital status arrived after Jada’s affair with her son’s friend August Alsina – who was aged 27 at the time – was exposed last year.

In a bombshell interview on Red Table Talk, Jada came clean to Will about her fling with August explaining it had happened during a time when their marriage had been on the rocks – with the actor agreeing.
