James Argent 'threw up blood' in gruelling recovery after life-saving stomach op

James ‘Arg’ Argent has detailed his recovery process after successfully undergoing his life-saving £10k gastric operation.

The reality star revealed he was throwing up blood following the operation and explained the many aspects of his gruelling recovery.

Weighing 27 stone, Arg had a sleeve gastrectomy operation last week at Transform Hospital Group, a top clinic in Birmingham, with the aim to get down to 16 stone.

The former TOWIE star has admitted that the recovery has been tough and sometimes “quite scary” after being sick randomly and seeing blood.

Speaking to The Sun he said: “It is quite scary when you’re just randomly being sick and you’re seeing lots of blood come up.

“Just dealing with trapped wind is really uncomfortable. They encouraged me to keep burping to get wind out, but you can’t even fart.”

Arg added he had to inject himself every day and cut out solid food from his diet for six whole weeks, meaning he has had to make do on shakes and juices.

He is also limited to just 1,000 calories a day, so has had to cut out his favourite foods of pizza and chocolate.

He said: “I could probably go and get a chocolate bar at night, whisk it up until it’s liquid and then have it, but what is the point?

“I’m not going to go through what I’ve been through and do something like that.”

However, Arg says he is already seeing the positives of having the surgery.

He continued: “I’ve already got a bit of a glow back in my face so I’m happy with that. And I feel like I’m already losing weight, which is good.”

Arg was left with five scars across his belly that will take around six weeks to heal all the way.

He said he was unable to box or swim as he must limit his exercise to walking for now but that he plans to start training with pal Mark Wright when healed up.

Arg said: “Mark has been there for me. He’s excited for me – after the healing process – to get involved in his training.

“I don’t want to be a skinny fat person, I want to be quite toned and look good, so Mark is going to help me do that.

Arg was previously told he was almost too big to have the operation after his BMI hit almost 50, far exceeding a healthy figure of 18 to 25.

Lockdown caused the star to quit exercise and take up unhealthy eating and junk food in the place of a drug addiction.
