Jasmine Harman emotional over sad story behind A Place in the Sun couple's move

A Place in the Sun viewers watched presenter Jasmine Harman grow emotional after a couple revealed the devastating motivation behind their relocation this week.

She comforted potential buyers Paul and Lisa after they told her about their decision to move abroad.

They went into detail about the heartbreaking reason behind the possible switch – and Jasmine clearly understood just how important it was.

Lisa said she had previously been diagnosed with breast cancer, so the search “meant everything” to her as Paul told of his sister’s tragic death.

Viewers of the Channel 4 show could sense how important it was to them as they set their sights on a fresh start.

Paul and Lisa were looking for a family holiday home in the Spanish resort of Torrevieja, located on the Costa Blanca.

They explained they were looking for a new adventure and host Jasmine wanted to find out more.

“What changed a couple of years ago?” she asked the pair.

“In 2015, I was diagnosed with breast cancer in the same year we lost Paul’s sister,” Lisa told her.

Shocked Jasmine replied: “I am sorry to hear that.”

Paul then explained: “You have to live your life, you can’t wait around and think I’ll do that at a later date. It’s a new adventure.”

The property search didn’t go to plan from the off but things quickly improved.

Jasmine pulled it out of the bag when she put forward a fifth and final property.

The house was on the market for £77,000 but she believed there was room for negotiation with the vendor with their budget not stretching that far.

Lisa admitted she loved the property, telling Jasmine: “It’s beautiful, isn’t it? Best one, 100 per cent.”

Paul said: “We’ve got we wanted, this is what we wanted, isn’t it? We love the house, this is spectacular, no other contender!”

Jasmine said: “I feel bad about taking you to see something when your budget is very restrictive and you don’t have a lot of leeway – but I couldn’t not.”

Jasmine’s decision to show them that property certainly paid off.

It was a happy ending as the couple put in an offer and managed to secure it for just under £73,000.
