Jedward to shave iconic quiffs on TV to raise charity cash in honour of late mum

Jedward will be shaving off their iconic blond quiffs on Irish chat show the Late Late Show to raise money for a cause close to their hearts.

The singing duo announced on Twitter that they would kissing goodbye to their locks on the Irish talk show The Late Late Show in order to raise money for charity.

They tweeted a video where John Grimes said: “We are on The Late Late Show this week shaving off our quiffs to raise much needed funds for the Irish Cancer Society.”

Twin brother Edward Grimes added: “We hope all the funds raise will contribute to a cancer-free future, this is such a good cause.

“We’re sending so much strength and love to all those suffering with cancer.”

The reasoning behind the surprise makeover and charity choice is that the twins’ mother Susanna Grimes tragically died from cancer early last year.

The former X Factor stars announced the passing of their mother in a poignant tribute in February 2019, writing: “You lived with cancer for many years but your passing was unexpected because you had overcome so many struggles and health complications.

“Mammy taught us how to deal with life and never let anyone say a bad word about us and always stood up for us and to take on life by being a free spirit.

“Mammy you had the determination that we will take into our lives. Mammy had all the character of who she was up until her last breath.

“Mammy’s life doesn’t end here because everything she was, lives on through all of us in our memories.

“Today is not just a goodbye but a celebration of a great person for making us smile, for looking after us all and brightening our life.

“You will be missed to infinity. Thinking of you always John, Edward and Kevin your three sons”
