Junior Andre says 'most people' won't listen to dad Peter's pop music

Peter Andre’s son Junior insisted “most people” won’t listen to his dad’s new pop music, the Aussie crooner has revealed.

During an appearance on Thursday’s episode of Lorraine, Peter, 48, opened up about his music career, having returned to the recording studio after an extended hiatus.

Peter first climbed the charts in the early nineties with his single Gimme Little Sign, which paved the way for the track Mysterious Girl, which made him a household name across the globe.

Releasing six albums over the course of his career, he had subsequent hits with All Night All Right and Flava, slotting into the pop-rock and R’n’B genres of music.

However, when it came to reevaluating his musical direction in his forties, his teenage son Junior, 16, had a thought or two to share.

Host Lorraine Kelly remarked: “For the music business, the songs that your kids are listening too as well, you’re always very open to lots and lots of different music anyway but that helps too. “

“My son, his choice of music is very different to mine,” Peter said.

“But actually he’s educating me. He’s saying, ‘you can go and do a pop-y song but most people won’t listen to it.’ And he’s right. I’m like, ‘okay alright!’.”

“Tough love!” exclaimed Lorraine, as Peter went on: “He’s like, ‘you need to get in with these producers and those producers,’ and I love hearing that from him.”

Last year, he landed his first major role on the screen, after he was cast in the comedy On The Other Foot, telling fans at the time: “I’m so happy to be in my first ever film and hope it’s the start of many.”

Peter’s daughter, Princess, 13, seems more likely to follow in her dad’s footsteps as a singer – though she has to wait until she finishes her education.

“I don’t want that for them until they finish school,” Peter told Lorraine. “It’s too early.”

Peter also plugged his upcoming guest performance in Grease the Musical, playing Teen Angel, the Sergeant, and Vince Fontaine in the classic production.

Choreographed by dancing queen Arlene Phillips, Andre will be touring the country with the production, following on from its 2019 success on the stage.

Plugging the show, he previously said: “Grease is joyous and will truly allow you to escape to a different time, with show-stopping dance routines and some of the most iconic songs of all time.
