Kate Ferdinand says she felt ‘abnormal’ after the birth of her baby son Cree

Kate Ferdinand has admitted to feeling ‘abnormal’ and struggled with her postpartum body after giving birth.

The former TOWIE star who is now married to ex-footballer Rio Ferdinand has opened up on how she needs to adjust to her figure after the birth of their son Cree in December.

The 29-year-old told The Sun said that after having baby Cree she was in a “whirlwind of emotion” and no longer recognised her body as hers.

“I was so happy but very emotional. And I was looking through social media and thinking, ‘Is this normal? Because no one ever says this’.

“I thought, ‘If I put up a photo of me with my hair and make up done perfect, that is not real and it is not how I feel’.

“I felt like I had to share it. And then it was crazy the amount of people who told me they felt the same. I think that’s why it is right to not share the perfect pictures all the time.

“When you are going through post-pregnancy, you can’t see out of the bubble. You think, ‘I am never going to go back to normal or feel the same again’.

She added however that you do come out the other side and find that everything becomes normal eventually.

Kate continued to say that even though she wished her body looked like it did before pregnancy, she is not putting pressure on herself to get back there, preferring to focus on spending time with her family rather than on looking good.

She added that there is a lot of pressure for new mothers to bounce back after having a baby but that this was not “realistic” for her having a newborn and Rio’s three children from his marriage to his late wife Rebecca Ellison.

Rio’s wife Rebecca passed away from breast cancer in 2015 at just 34 years old.

The couple shared three children together, Lorenz, 14, Tate, 12, and Tia, 10, who Kate fondly refers to as her own and says have been a big help with Cree.

She explained they have helped out by doing chores and holding the newborn when Kate is busy, and have been “amazing”.
