Kate Middleton 'would be great on Strictly because of long legs' says former winner

Dancing pro Joanne Clifton has revealed she wants the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton to appear on Strictly Come Dancing.

As a string of celebs hit the dancefloor for this year’s series, the show is most certainly missing some royal glamour. And the former Strictly star believes Kate’s elegance and grace would take her far if she were to appear on the series

She told OK!: “Looking at her, she’d be good at ballroom. She’s so elegant and graceful.

“I feel like she’d do everything really precisely and would want to know the technique through and through to get every detail perfect. So, I feel like she’d be really good at that.”

But besides her sophistication well equipping her for the ballroom, the 39-year-old’s enviable height would also help her when it comes to Latin dances too.

“She has got really long limbs and stuff so she might be great at a rumba as well,” Joanne added.

With Strictly fever well and truly underway, there’s no doubt that the graceful royal would be welcome on the dancefloor if she were to swap her royal duties for dance lessons.

While fans are used to seeing the royal at formal engagements, fans of the Duchess occasionally get a glimpse of her more casual side.

Mother-of-three Kate is reportedly a huge fan of the show, and brother-in-law Prince Harry made a surprise appearance on last year’s competition. Sophie Wessex and Lady Louise Windsor were also spotted in the audience.

While Kate is known for her elegance and poise when attending royal engagements, there have been times when royal fans have seen glimpses of her more informal side.

During her pregnancy with Louis, she was seen dancing with Paddington Bear despite suffering from severe morning sickness and in an interview for the documentary, Prince William: A Planet for Us All, the Duke of Cambridge revealed that Kate had been working on her skills – especially the floss.

“Charlotte can floss. Catherine can floss but I can’t. It’s, it’s like a really horrible film to watch me floss,” he joked.

After once winning the glitterball trophy with presenter Ore Oduba in 2016, Joanne has since launched a successful career in musical theatre and on the West End and will soon take on her latest role as Morticia Addams in the touring musical The Addams Family.

Joanne added: “They’re such an iconic family. It’s amazing, when I got the call, I collapsed to the floor sobbing. I was so happy and I’m just loving every moment with my black hair and nail varnish.”
