Legendary Arrested Development star Jessica Walter dies in her sleep

Actress Jessica Walter has died aged 80, having made her mark on the comedy series Arrested Development as the formidable Lucille Bluth.

The movie star reportedly passed away in her sleep in her New York City home.

Walter’s daughter, Brooke Bowman, shared a statement confirming the sad news.

It read: “It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of my beloved mum Jessica.

“A working actor for over six decades, her greatest pleasure was bringing joy to others through her storytelling both on screen and off.

“While her legacy will live on through her body of work, she will also be remembered by many for her wit, class and overall joie de vivre.”

Deadline reported that Jessica’s family has asked that donations are made to charity Guide Dogs for the Blind, rather than flowers.

Jessica was loved by many as she enjoyed an incredible acting career for five decades.

She not only acted in movies and television, but also performed on stage too.

Her career started on stage as she won an award for her astounding performance in Photo Finish in 1963.

Jessica went on to star in numerous television shows as she acted in Murder, She Wrote, Babylon 5, Three’s A Crowd, The Magician and also had a cameo in The Big Bang Theory.

She won her first Emmy after her incredible performance in Ironside spin-off Amy Prentiss.

Jessica is best known for playing the iconic Lucille Bluth in Arrested Development back in 2003.

Walter was also the voice of Mallory Archer on FX sitcom Archer for over 100 episodes.

Her last television role was last month as she made a cameo appearance on American Housewife.

Jessica is survived by daughter Brooke Bowman, who she shares with first husband Ross Bowman, and her grandson Micah Heymann.
