Lorraine Kelly apologises over filming blunder during Dolly Parton interview

Lorraine Kelly apologised to viewers on Thursday’s show, having realised she’d been “looming” too close to the camera while filming.

The Scottish presenter was joined by Barry Gibbs and Dolly Parton in a pre-recorded Zoom chat, chinwagging about their new duet, having harmonized a new version of the Bee Gees hit song Words.

Filming the segment from her living room, Lorraine was excited to talk to the two music legends and accidentally brought her face too close to her iPad.

After the interview wrapped, she apologised: “Sorry I was looming, I do apologise.

“I was very excited and I loomed.”

Showbiz correspondent Ross King, who appeared to host the next segment about celebrity culture live from Los Angeles, couldn’t help but poke fun at the ITV star.

He quipped: “Lorraine the loomer! I can see the hashtag now.”

Legendary crooner Barry is set to release an album of collaborations with celebrity musicians, with his Dolly duet one of many melodic contributions to the record.

Titled Greenfields: The Gibb Brothers Songbook, Vol. 1, the album will also see Barry work with the likes of Miranda Lambert, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings.

During their interview, Lorraine thanked singing sensation Dolly for her contribution to funding for coronavirus research, having donated $1million (£750,000) to the worthy cause.

Dolly previously donated a whopping $1million to help fund vaccine research

Lorraine said: “A massive thank you, Dolly, to you, because of obviously with your foundation, and you were so generous donating money to finding a vaccine, creating a vaccine. So thank you, that was an amazing thing to do.”

As gracious as ever Dolly replied: “You’re welcome! I was just so happy to be a part of that, to be part of it in any way.

“I felt early on that we had to do what we could. So I’m just happy that my little part has helped. I hope that we can get the vaccines out to everybody.”

Lorraine joked she’d been “looming” over her camera by accident

The country legend went on to share a message of hope for the future, predicting the music industry would soon be back in action, with Dolly performing for fans.

She added: “Then one day soon, when life is good again, we will be able to get out and do the concerts, and get back on the road and do the things we want to do.”

Lorraine airs on weekdays at 9am on ITV.
