Noel Gallagher teases fans over new single ahead of radio show appearance

Noel Gallagher is set to make his comeback to music by releasing a new single called We’re On Our Way Now, according to reports.

The Sun reported that he will be unveiling the new song today (April 29) after months of speculation from fans and Noel teasing music-lovers on Twitter.

The new song is reportedly a characteristic melancholy guitar anthem and tells the passing of a friend without the opportunity to properly say goodbye, before bringing a more upbeat chorus and reflection on the beginning of being at peace.

The lyrics read: “Remember what might have been, had I walked you home and said I’d see you later? You were living the dream, but when the morning comes, you’re gonna meet your maker.

“Good luck in the afterlife.”

Noel went on: “I hear the morning sun, doesn’t cast no shadow. You chose to drift away, but look at you now.”

The record is reportedly the first from a forthcoming greatest hits album that will mark Noel’s band High Flying Birds’ decade in music which will be released this summer, according to The Sun.

Some Oasis fans were tweeting in hopes that it would be an announcement on a reunion or collaborating with brother Liam – but there has been no proof on whether it’s on the cards.

He had been hinting that new music was coming after he recently admitted to hitting a “purple patch” with his songwriting.

Speaking on Matt Morgan’s podcast, he said: “I’ve been in the studio on a bit of a roll. Bit of a run, bit of a purple patch, some mega tunes, really f****g great.

“I’m doing the songs for a new album. I’ve been in the studio every day. If I didn’t have that, I don’t know where I’d be at now. If I wasn’t going in there every day. Actually, some f*****g great stuff has come out of it.”
