Oprah praised Meghan Markle's 'wonderful warm heart and grace' on CBS

Oprah Winfrey praised Meghan Markle for her ‘warm heart and grace’ during an unearthed clip on US TV in 2019.

The uber rich chat show host, insisted the Suits actress is nothing like reports claim she is.

Oprah made the comments on CBS This Morning in 2019 – around a year after she had tried, and failed, to get Meghan to sit down with her for a pre-wedding royal tell all.

At the time Meghan told it no, but in their upcoming chat she claims the decision ‘wasn’t hers to make’.

While the former Deal or No Deal box girl had turned her down, Oprah was working with Prince Harry on a TV project for Apple’s streaming service to focus on mental health.

Defending the Duchess, Oprah said in 2019: “I think she is being portrayed unfairly.

“I think if people really knew her they would know that she is not only everything that we would perceive of her as being graceful, and dynamic in holding that position.

“But she also just has a wonderful warm giving loving heart.”

The US TV legend added: “I see all the crazy press around her and I think it is really unfair.

“She actually does not read anything which I find remarkable with all that is going on.”

Meghan and Harry are currently in the middles of a media storm after sitting down for film a royal exposé with Oprah while the Duke of Edinburgh, 99, recovers from heart surgery in London.

The chat will air in the US on Sunday night – 1am UK time – before ITV air the two hour special at 9pm on Monday night in Britain.

Reports claim that The Queen, 94, has not been given an advanced copy of the programme.

In dramatic clips teased by CBS, Meghan tells Oprah she struggled to cope with the restraints of royal life.

Not stopping there, she goes on to accuse “The Firm” of “perpetuating falsehoods” about her and Harry.

The Firm is thought to have been phrased by The Duke of Edinburgh ahead of his marriage to the then Princess Elizabeth in 1947.

He is reported to have said at the time that the big day was him “marrying into The Firm”.

The Firm refers to the business side of the monarchy headed up by the monarch.

Meghan said: “I don’t know how they could expect that after all of this time, we would still just be silent if there is an active role that The Firm is playing in perpetuating falsehoods about us.

“And if that comes with risk of losing things, I mean, I’ve…there’s a lot that’s been lost already.”

The sit down chat comes 12 months after Harry and Meghan stepped back from life as working royals and moved to America.

Following a short stint in Canada, the pair moved to California where they now live in a mega-mansion with their young son Archie.

At the time of Megxit couple said they wished to leave a more private life but vowed to uphold the values of the royal family and Queen Elizabeth II.

After Meghan provided a voice over for Disney’s Elephant, the couple signed multimillion dollar deals with Spotify and Netflix.

Last month they were stripped of their royal patronages including Meghan’s National Theatre patronage and military honours.
