Pauline Quirke 'quit Birds of a Feather after massive row with Linda Robson'

They have a friendship that spans five decades, but it has been reported that Pauline Quirke and Loose Women’s Linda Robson are friends no more.

The two actresses reportedly got in a huge row, which saw Pauline step back from ITV’s Birds of a Feather series.

Pauline, 61, and Linda, 62, who play on-screen bickering sisters, have seemingly had a case of life mirroring art, as a huge row has exploded into their private lives.

The Mail on Sunday reported that the pair who play Sharon Theodopolopodous and Tracey Stubbs on the long-running show have experienced an irreconcilable rift in their 50-year-long friendship.

Insiders reportedly told the publication there have been “real and tense issues” between the pair, which saw Pauline refuse to take part in the programme’s 30th anniversary special.

Quirke’s character Sharon has recently been absent from the show, with the explanation being that Sharon’s been enjoying a cruise.

A source claimed to the publication: “Both Linda and Lesley were saddened that Pauline didn’t want to return to make a 30th anniversary episode. Linda and Pauline used to be very close, less so Pauline and Lesley.”

They continued: “I think Pauline resented the attention that Lesley got and it was very tense and difficult to navigate at times.

“Pauline wasn’t approached about the Christmas special. The atmosphere on the set had previously become difficult, there were real and tense issues.”

Birds of a Feather first hit the BBC in 1989, seeing Linda and Pauline catapulted into the spotlight. It ran for nine years in total.

The programme, which also sees Lesley Joseph star as Dorien Green, was then later revived in 2014 by creators Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran.

The Birds of a Feather Christmas special attracted an impressive 7.9million viewers and it’s been reported that Robson and Joseph, 75, are keen to have another series, however, ITV are yet to confirm this.

Daily Star Online has contacted Quirke’s spokeswoman for comment.
