Phillip Schofield says Holly is the 'sister he never had' in touching message

They’re known for their close friendship but Phillip Schofield has shared the ultimate compliment for his pal, Holly Willoughby.

Phillip who fronts This Morning and Dancing On Ice alongside Holly became the best of friends after she joined the ice skating competition presenting line up with him back in 2006.

Since then, their bond has gone from strength to strength, with the pair often spending time together outside of work with their families and Phillip confiding in Holly over his sexuality.

Holly, 39, is gearing up to celebrate her 40th birthday next week and Phil, 58, didn’t hold back as he praised her.

Speaking to OK! Magazine, he said: “There have been so many times over the years that I have rejoiced in the fact that Holly is my friend, I’ve said often that she is the sister I never had.

“We’ve stood side by side (recently with a 2m gap) through good times and tough times.”

His touching birthday message went on to say: “She is a constant support to me, built of steel and love. We’ve laughed together and cried together and got helplessly drunk together.

Under current coronavirus lockdown rules, Holly will not be able to celebrate her birthday in her usual way with a swanky party but this won’t stop her enjoying herself.

The publication goes on to state that after work, she will head home and take part in a virtual Zoom party with some of her closest A-list friends and relatives.

It’s believed Holly will celebrate her 40th with pals including Spice Girls singer Emma Bunton, former EastEnders actress Tamzin Outhwaite and her big sister Kelly who will all link up via the video conferencing app.

Last year, Holly welcomed her 39th birthday with a full-on This Morning party, sipping delicious cocktails and nibbling on food prepared by celebrity chef Phil Vickery.

She was later presented with a birthday cake, saying: “I couldn’t think of a dreamier birthday lunch.”
