Piers Morgan slams 'weak and defeated' Joe Biden as Afghanistan tensions escalate

Broadcaster Piers Morgan is no stranger when it comes to holding politicians to account and his latest social media outburst is certainly no different.

The former Good Morning Britain has heavily criticised President Joe Biden following the recent news that America would be withdrawing its troops from the country in the coming days.

In recent weeks, the Taliban has taken control of the country, most recently the capital city Kabul.

Now, 24 hours after Joe Biden threatened those who carried out the chilling terror attacks at the airport, Piers, 56, has taken to social media hitting at him.

While his voice was breaking, the President, 78, said: “We will hunt you down and make you pay.”

However, Piers was less than impressed, tweeting: “President Biden looks and sounds tired, weak and defeated.

“What a rambling, stumbling, dreadful speech.”

Taking to the replies section of Piers’s post, Channel 7 Sports presenter Adrian Barich added: “That line in the photo you posted didn’t sound weak.”

Making reference to Biden’s comment, Piers responded: “How’s he going to hunt anyone down in Afghanistan given he’s just thrown in the towel and abandoned the country?”

Piers’ followers appeared to be in agreement with the former The Mirror editor as they flocked to his mentions.

“Piers I completely agree with you. I’m actually very concerned about Joe Biden because this is a massive decision to withdraw and one made by his predecessor,” said one.

While a second added: “I agree. It’s very sad. Let’s get Kamala as president in charge. God bless Joe Biden.”

“This has to be the most bizarre press conference I’ve ever seen! Unbelievable,” echoed a third.

Biden’s comments came just hours after the attack that killed 12 US troops, 11 US Marines and one Navy Personnel, as well as civilians.

The attack marked the first US military casualties in Afghanistan since February 2020 and the deadliest attack on American troops in more than a decade.

Shortly after, the Islamic State Khorasan (ISIS-K) claimed responsibility for the attack.

During a press conference at the White House, Biden said: “To those who carried out this attack, as well as anyone who wishes America harm, know this: We will not forgive, we will not forget.

“We will hunt you down and make you pay.”

The President continued: “I have also ordered my commanders to develop operational plans to strike ISIS-K assets, leadership and facilities. We will respond with force and precision at our time, at the place we choose and the moment of our choosing.”
