Police receive report of sex offence claim after allegations against Noel Clarke

The Met Police have said they have received a third party report in relation to claims of sexual offences made against the actor Noel Clarke, which he “vehemently denies”.

In a statement given to Sky News, the Met Police said: “On Wednesday 21 April police received a third party report relating to allegations of sexual offences committed by a male over a period of time.

“Officers are currently assessing the information.

“We would urge anyone who believes they have been subjected to a sexual offence to report this to police so the information can be assessed and investigated accordingly.

“There are specially trained officers ready to provide advice and support.”

The Met Police confirmed there is currently no investigation against the star underway.

The report was received a week before The Guardian article was published.

Clarke denied all the allegations made against him in a statement released yesterday he “vehemently denies any sexual misconduct or criminal wrongdoing.”

It comes after an investigation by The Guardian spoke to 20 women who came forward to make allegations of abuse and harassment against the actor.

In response to the claims which emerged on Thursday, ITV pulled the final episode of Clarke’s drama Viewpoint from its schedule on Friday evening.

The broadcaster has instead placed the final episode on their ITV Hub service which will be available for a limited time.

An ITV spokesperson said: “ITV has a zero tolerance policy to bullying, harassment and victimisation and robust procedures in place to investigate and deal with any complaints. We strongly believe that everyone deserves to work in a supportive and safe environment.

In light of the very serious nature of the allegations against Noel Clarke raised by 20 women in the Guardian’s report, ITV has decided it is no longer appropriate to broadcast the final episode of the drama Viewpoint on ITV main channel this evening.

“We are mindful that some of our viewers have already invested four hours of their time over the past four nights in following this thriller which was due to conclude this evening, and they have yet to see the final episode.

“As such we plan to make it available on ITV Hub tonight for a limited time for any viewers who wish to seek it out, and watch its conclusion.”

Elsewhere, fellow broadcaster Sky quickly reacted to the allegations and confirmed they would be halting all work involving Clarke.

Filming was also suspended filming of the fourth season of Bulletproof, of which Clarke was set to star in.

They said yesterday: “Sky stands against all forms of sexual harassment and bullying and takes any allegations of this nature extremely seriously.

“Effective immediately, we have halted Noel Clarke’s involvement in any future Sky productions.”
