Rachel Riley red-faced as wardrobe blunder forces her to change out of dress

Rachel Riley had no option but to change her outfit on Thursday, after realising she looked identical to a nearby set of curtains.

The Countdown star, 35, had turned up to host Jami’s live mental health fundraising event wearing a stylish pink dress, patterned in a floral print.

However, as she tested out some camera angles, Rachel quickly realised her gown looked very similar to the venue’s backdrop.

With a peachy background and a scattering of flowers, the curtains in the venue looked as though they had been made from the same material as her frock.

The mishap meant Rachel was forced to go digging through her wardrobe, on the hunt for something a little less camouflaged.

Sharing the hilarious blunder to Twitter, Rachel snapped a selfie, writing: “When you accidentally turn up for recording, dressed as the curtains.

“Think I’ll get changed before @JamiPeople’s live mental health fundraising event this evening. #JamiYoutopia.”

Rachel’s 668,800 followers were hugely entertained by the blunder, and couldn’t help but take the opportunity to crack a few curtain-themed jokes.

One quipped: “Dressed as curtains? Pull yourself together.”

“The dress suits you, can they change the curtains?” added a second, and a third remarked: “You blend in perfectly.”

Offering online support during the lockdown, Jami is a provider of mental health services for the Jewish community in London and the South East of the UK.

Rachel, who identifies herself as of Jewish heritage, has signed up to host their Youtopia event, which will be broadcast live on Thursday night.

Ahead of the event, she announced: “Well be talking all mental health. I’ll be joined by celebrity guests, by mental health campaigners, and people benefiting from Jami’s support.”

Celebs Howard Jacobson, Vanessa Feltz and Stephen Fry are also due to make an appearance at the online gathering.

Rachel added: “It’s going to be a fantastic evening, so don’t miss out.”
