Rapper DaBaby 'detained by police during Hollywood shopping spree'

DaBaby is said to have been detained by police from Beverly Hills Police Department while on Rodeo Drive.

The star was seen close to a designer clothes store on the popular street, close to the centre of Hollywood on Thursday when police officers stopped him.

Officers were heard instructing him to “get out of the car” before asking: “does that first one have anything?” as they demanded he rolled the blacked-out window of the SUV down, on more than one occasion.

According to footage filmed at the scene of the incident, police officers told the driver of the vehicle they were following reports of somebody in the group being in possession of a gun.

Cops reportedly later told witnesses on the scene that they had recovered a gun which was “part of the investigation,” according to footage obtained by TMZ.

He was seen wearing a grey sweater, paired with matching sweatpants and white trainers along with a white face mask as officers escorted him to a nearby vehicle.

DaBaby, 29, was seen with three men as they attempted to depart from the famous shopping area before several police cars surrounded the car they were travelling in.

The dad-of-two later received two Grammy nominations for hit single Suge, released in 2020, before receiving a further four nominations at the Grammy’s for his 2021 megahit, Rockstar featuring Roddy Rich.

He recently faced criticism over his decision to collaborate with Tory Lanez, who is currently facing charges for an alleged shooting involving Megan Thee Stallion in July of 2020.

Lanez, 28, is alleged to have shot Megan, 25, twice in the foot as she attempted to get out of his SUV following a party in the Hollywood Hills area of Los Angeles on July 12.

Sources at the time claimed that Megan and her pal later decided that they wanted to leave the vehicle which was being driven by Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson after the trio became embroiled in an argument.

Daily Star has approached representatives for DaBaby and Beverly Hills Police for a statement.
