Rapper Dizzee Rascal charged with assault after woman injured in flat

Rapper Dizzee Rascal has been charged with assaulting a woman after an alleged incident in a flat in Streatham, South London, on June 8.

Police arrested the rapper at the scene on suspicion of common assault and he has since been charged after the woman reported suffering a minor injury, though she did not need hospital treatment.

Dylan Mills, commonly known as Dizzee Rascal, will appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on September 3 to face the charges, The Sun has reported.

The Metropolitan Police said: “Dylan Mills, 36, of Sevenoaks, Kent, has been charged with assault after an incident at a residential address in Streatham on June 8.

“Officers attended and a woman reported minor injuries. She did not require hospital treatment. Mills is due to appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Friday, September 3.”

Dizzee Rascal released his first solo album at 18-years-old, but his fourth album, Tongue n’ Cheek, released in 2009, had four number one hits including Bonkers, one of his most famous tracks.

Just last year he was awarded an MBE in The Queen’s Birthday Honours for services to music after the release of his album E3 AF in 2020.

Earlier this year he tapped into a new audience as he appeared on The Great British Bake Off in March as part of the celebrity series.

Dizzee Rascal has prioritised privacy despite hitting celebrity status, and he keeps information about himself at a minimum.

It is believed that he dated model Kaya Bousquet, who died in a high-speed crash in 2008, but aside from that he chooses to keep his personal life private where possible.

Dizzee Rascal is best known for his music career

He has released seven albums throughout his career and has also launched his own record label, called Dirtee Stank, with mostly his own tracks featuring on it.

Last year he was praised for delivering food parcels to under-privileged children in London’s East End during lockdown throughout 2020.
