Rapper Yung Kece dies aged 20 as tributes flood in from fans and loved ones

Yung Kece was reportedly shot on the morning of October 31 in San Diego.

The young rapper died at the hospital after emergency services were called immediately after the shooting.

Police have said that the shooting took place at about 4am on October 31 on East 20th street, east of National City Boulevard.

The police have stated they were called by the alleged shooter, Israel Moreno Jr, 18, who said he shot the victim in self defence.

The San Diego Union Tribune has said that no further detail regarding what led up to the shooting has been revealed at this time.

It was also reported that officers found the rapper, known as Marquis Lamar Hargrove, lying on the street and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators had said they saw “what appears to be some of [Hargrove’s] rap videos on YouTube”, which those, combined with others posted on Instagram and Facebook, identified him as “Yung Kece” and “Zoovie Kece”.

The rapper had a young son, whom he posted multiple pictures and videos of on his profile, alongside snippets of his music.

He boasted 23,000 followers on Instagram and had recorded tracks including Which Way? Dat Way, Leavin or Staying and No Love.

News of his death broke to earlier this week, with some of his fans and loved ones taking to Instagram to share tribute to the aspiring rapper.

As tributes poured in on his last video, one user wrote: “Rest easy bro,” while another added: “Rest in heaven Kece.”

Another said: “RIP what is wrong with this world.”

Yung Kece had been building up his following for years as he released multiple tracks to share his music with those who were showering him with support.

Snippets of songs, music videos and general snaps of his life surrounded his Instagram page and he was constantly inundated with support.

His fans recently set up a memorial to celebrate his life as photos of the aspiring rapper and candles were distributed while his loved-ones remembered him.
