Ruth Langsford 'unlikely' to stay on This Morning after husband Eamonn quits for GB News

Ruth Langsford is said to be ‘unlikely’ to remain a presenter on ITV’s This Morning after the announcement that hubby Eamonn Holmes is leaving.

After 15 years as a fan favourite presenting the early morning staple in Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby’s absence, The Mirror made the exclusive shock announcement that he will be leaving the show to join new channel GB News in the new year.

His decision to join the controversial ‘anti-woke’ news channel was potentially sparked after Eamonn suggested a conspiracy theory linking Coronavirus to 5G phone masts at the beginning of the pandemic which saw him receive hundreds of Ofcom complaints.

Ruth’s future on the show is up for debate

More than 400 viewers complained about the segment, during which Eamonn appeared to back the Internet conspiracy theory which saw mobile masts across the country vandalised and set alight.

As a guest said: “There’s a rumour that is circulating, it’s not true and it’s incredibly stupid”, Eamonn hit back with: “Totally agree with everything you’re saying, but what I don’t accept is mainstream media immediately slapping that down as not true when they don’t know it’s not true.”

He was made to clarify his statement, claiming he was ‘misinterpreted’. A few months later Eamonn and Ruth were replaced by Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond.

A source told The Mirror: “Eamonn’s move to GB News marks the end of an era. He’ll be missed by many ITV viewers but the truth is this job offer probably came at just the right moment for both him and ITV.

Eamonn is leaving the show after 15 years

“All good things must come to an end.”

61-year-old Eamonn has been with wife Ruth Langsford, the longest serving presenter of the show after she started in 2000 with Phillip, for 25 years, and the couple were married in 2010.

The Irish presenter will be hosting his own show during the week, but it is unclear whether Ruth will join him.

The husband and wife duo have been married for 11 years

She has been a Loose Women panelist since 1999, with a 12 year break from 2002 to 2014, and looks set to continue this gig but whether she will remain a presenter for This Morning is up for debate.

A source told The Mirror: “She is unlikely to remain on the show without Eamonn but is expected to continue as a regular on Loose Women.”

Ruth began as a guest presenter in 2000, a permanent presenter in 2006, and was joined by Eamonn later that year and the pair often present the Friday and school holiday shows.

She also often appears on QVC to promote her fashion line and has recently presented Lose A Stone In Four Weeks For The Summer.
