Ruth Langsford's 'heart is breaking' for Queen after Prince Philip's funeral

Ruth Langsford has said her “heart is breaking” for Queen Elizabeth II after the head of the Royal Family was pictured stood alone at Prince Philip’s funeral.

The Duke of Edinburgh was laid to rest at St George’s Chapel on the grounds of Windsor Castle on Saturday (April 17), with the event televised.

And Ruth, 61, was watching along, as she shared an image of the Queen to her Instagram account for her 1million followers to see.

The ITV favourite shared an image of the Queen alone, dressed head to toe in black, complete with a face mask, following coronavirus guidelines.

Ruth wrote: “My heart is breaking for her. RIP Prince Philip.”

Her followers were clearly feeling the same, as more than 62,000 hit the like button, while some also left a comment.

One person wrote: “Mine too, but doesn’t it make you proud to be British watching this. God bless.”

Another of her followers said: “Heartbreaking she looks so frail today,” adding some heartbroken emojis.

A third commented: “Mine too and the fact that she has to sit all alone is making it even worse.”

Someone added: “So sad to see her alone, but like so many widows and widowers during this crisis she has to sit alone. But reminds us again that she is our Queen and doesn’t expect to be treated any differently to anyone else even at the most painful moment of her life. It’s why we have so much respect for her.

Another famous face feeling sorry for the Queen today was Piers Morgan, who shared the same solemn image and a tearful emoji.

He then tweeted to his 7.9million followers: “Has there ever been a more heart-breaking picture of The Queen? The cruel separation and loneliness suffered by so many in this pandemic, now endured by the world’s most famous woman as she says goodbye to her husband of 73 years. Just devastating.”

Prince Philip died at the age of 99, just months before he would’ve turned 100, on April 9.

Prince Harry returned to the UK to attend the funeral, with him being seen with his brother Prince William for the first time since the explosive Oprah Winfrey interview.

Naturally, Meghan Markle did not attend as the star is currently pregnant with her and Harry’s second child, so was advised not to travel from the US.
