Saturday Night Takeaway suffers awkward tech fault leaving Mo Gilligan silenced

Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway was faced with a major technical issue during the season finale.

The Geordie duo retuned to our screens on Saturday night to present the final episode of the seventeenth series.

Ant McPartlin and Dec Donelly pulled out all the stops to make sure that the latest season went out with a bang.

However, things didn’t go quite to plan when guest announcer Mo Gilligan tried to inform viewers what was coming up after the break.

The Masked Singer UK star and comedian Mo, 33, could be seen speaking into a microphone but no sound could be heard by those watching at home.

Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway viewers struggled to hear guest announcer Mo Gilligan as he tried to tell fans what was coming up on the ITV show

Viewers rushed to social media to put out the noticeable sound issue.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “Yep heard nothing from mo before the ads sound issues.”

Another added: “The sound has gone to pot.”

A third person posted: “Mo’s sound went out then.”

While a fourth viewer said: “Did Mo’s sound just cut out?”

“That bit would’ve been really effective if there hadn’t been an actual sound outage right before the break,” a fifth social media user said.

Viewers rushed to their keyboards to moan about the sound issue

The sound issue was later fixed and Mo frequently spoke to Ant and Dec throughout the show.

Viewers were left in stitches as Stephen Mulhern dressed up a gold trophy for the final segment of Ant VS Dec.

He donned a gold jumpsuit complete with an hilarious pointed gold hat.

Ant, 45, couldn’t help but make a cheeky dig at Stephen as he asked: “What’s the little knob on your head?”
