Saved By The Bell's Dustin Diamond's dying wish was to meet favourite guitarist

Saved By The Bell star Dustin Diamond’s dying wish was to talk to the bassist from his favourite band Tool, it is claimed.

Dustin sadly died aged 44 on February 1 after battling an advanced form of lung cancer, his representative confirmed.

A close pal of the actor Dan Block claimed that, as death drew close, he told how he wanted to meet the musician Justin Chancellor.

He also said he wanted to visit the Star Wars exhibit at Disney World in Florida.

Dan told The Sun: “There are two things Dustin asked for….the ability to talk to Justin Chancellor about music and to be able to visit Disney World to see Star Wars Galaxy Edge.

“Dustin was learning to play several Tool songs and wanted to start a Tool tribute band.

“He was in the process of starting the band before being diagnosed with cancer.

“He would play the song and play along with his bass while watching YouTube videos.”

Tool are a rock band who are based in Los Angeles, US.

Dustin’s representative Roger Paul confirmed his death in a statement and described his cancer as “relentless”.

The statement shared with Daily Star read: “We are saddened to confirm of Dustin Diamond’s passing on Monday, February 1st, 2021 due to carcinoma. He was diagnosed with this brutal, relentless form of malignant cancer only three weeks ago.

“In that time, it managed to spread rapidly throughout his system; the only mercy it exhibited was its sharp and swift execution. Dustin did not suffer. He did not have to lie submerged in pain. For that, we are grateful.”

Describing Diamond’s death as “sudden,” the statement continued: “Dustin Diamond was a character in and of himself: an unpredictable spitfire who always left us shocked, but never left us bored.

“We are thankful he trusted us enough to share his genuine, authentic self with our team. We wish you knew him in the way that we did.

“We please ask that you give room for privacy to our team and Mr Diamond’s family during this tragic time, as we grieve and remember the memories spent together. This loss is as much stinging as it is sudden.”

The actor shot to fame in Saved By The Bell and later reprised the role in the show’s follow-up series Saved by the Bell: The College Years and Saved by the Bell: The New Class.

In 2013 he re-found fame in the UK after taking part in Celebrity Big Brother.

However, after 16 days he was evicted from the camera-filled house.

In December TMZ reported that Dustin was hospitalised after complaining of “pain all over his body”.
