Simon Cowell and Gary Barlow end 'feud' as Take That star takes over ITV role on new show

Simon Cowell and Gary Barlow have reportedly cleared-the-air after a decade-long feud which began during X Factor filming.

The news lands after the Take That singer had been announced as one of the judges on Simon’s new ITV programme, Walk The Line.

According to the Mirror, the two men reunited last weekend – in a bid to put years of issues well and truly behind them.

Their encounter arrived moments before the singer and songwriter had been announced as “the best man for the job” by Simon’s record label and creators of the new ITV gig.

A source told the same publication: “It was a really constructive and great conversation between both men who have moved on and are excited for the future. It’s all water under the bridge now.”

It was previously reported that Gary and the dad-of-one had fallen out when the hitmaker had stepped in to replace Simon on the judging panel while he was working on a US programme.

A bad taste was left in the Relight My Fire star’s mouth after his performance was described as “wooden” in a biography that was written by Tom Bower – brought to life with Simon’s blessings.

The publication also referenced another issue that may have caused a rift between the former co-stars.

It was reported in the book that Simon was not best pleased when Gary was awarded an OBE.

Over the years, the duo have also spoke to many news outlets indicating there could have been tension in the air.

At the time when it was speculated Gary would be dumped from the X Factor, he explained he wasn’t doing business with the mogul anymore.

He said: “I don’t talk to Simon, I talk to ITV.”

The chart topper also fired back in his own autobiography claiming he believed the X Factor dressing rooms were “bugged” and alleged producers had told them what to say before the live programme.

Meanwhile, Simon recently announced that he was taking a step away from the limelight to spend more time with his partner Lauren and son Eric.

This comes after the talent-scout had suffered a horrifying back injury following an accident on an electric bicycle.

Simon announced: “This is a situation where I have decided it is right for me to focus on my role as the creator and producer as we build up to the hugely exciting launch.

“Gary’s musical pedigree is second to none – and we have known each other a long time now – so I am delighted he is picking up the baton for me for the first series of Walk The Line. I know he will do a fantastic job.”
