Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash's path to second baby after tragic miscarriages

Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash are over the moon that they are expecting their second baby together.

The couple shared the news with fans on social media on Wednesday while opening up about experiencing miscarriages while “trying for another pickle”.

The 31-year-old former X-Factor singer, who is set to tie the knot with Joe this summer, has received warm and positive messages from Loose Women co-stars and fellow celebrities since the news.

Although the family is happy they are expecting, Stacey also explains to followers that it hadn’t been an easy path to finding out they were pregnant.

The star said she had suffered ‘quite a few losses’ before hearing a heartbeat at an ultrasound scan this week.

Through her Instagram stories, the mum-of-three broke her social media silence to speak about what the couple had gone through as they tried for a baby.

The singer also revealed for the first time she had sadly suffered a miscarriage in the past.

In the first upload to Instagram, she explained she was feeling “nervous for many reasons” ahead of breaking the news she was pregnant.

The mum then shared the tragic news that she had previously suffered a miscarriage while trying for a second child with fiance Joe before the couple had decided to stop trying.

She wrote: “For a really long time we’ve been trying for another pickle… It didn’t work out and this was our news quite a few times… “

She also shared a blurred-out document that reads: “Diagnosis based on ultrasound findings: complete miscarriage.”

Stacey continued: “We decided we were so lucky to already have our boys. It is the biggest privilege in life and we are so grateful to be parents so we stopped trying and counted ourselves so so so blessed already.”

Despite the couple’s heartbreaking loss, Stacey and Joe were happily surprised and overjoyed when they heard the sound of a heartbeat during an ultrasound earlier this week.

Following the beautiful moment, she unveiled an adorable family picture with her three boys, partner Joe, and the ultrasound picture of their unborn baby.

The couple already share little Rex together and are looking forward to their second bundle of joy

Alongside the photo, the mum said she was grateful and confessed she didn’t think she would have the chance to have another child.

“We are growing another pickle. We’ve never felt so grateful… I have no words. We didn’t think we would get the chance. We love you all to the moon and back. Lots of love From Me, Joe, Harry, Zach, Leighton, Rex, and our little pickle,” she added.

The Loose Women star is mum to sons, Leighton and Zachary, from previous relationships and shares little Rex with hubby-to-be Joe.

Although it seems this is the first time Stacey has chosen to be open about her miscarriages publicly, she has previously spoken about deciding to wait before revealing she was pregnant with her three sons.

During a panel on Loose Women last year, the star said she “knew the feeling” when it came to being nervous about announcing a pregnancy.

Stacey said previously in January 2020: “You’re growing a human, for some people, it takes a really, really long time to get there, to get to the place where you’re pregnant and there’s not any definitive stats out there but in NCT statistics almost 70% of miscarriages happen in the first 12 weeks.

“So I don’t think it’s irrational for women to say, you know what, I just want to keep this inside and nurture it inside with my close family until I get past those 12-week stages.

“I feel like it’s each to their own. I understand why you might want to shout it from the rooftops from the minute you conceive, I know that feeling.”
