Strictly fans fume at BBC 'pandering' to Gordon Ramsay as Fred Sirieix signs up for show

Strictly Come Dancing viewers were left fuming on Monday night, as they accused the BBC of attempting to butter up Gordon Ramsay.

Gordon’s former co-star Fred Sirieix, of First Dates fame, was announced on It Takes Two as part of the line-up for the Strictly Christmas special, along with The Repair Shop star Jay Blades.

But Fred has just recently appeared on a programme alongside Gordon and Gino D’Acampo, in which the trio travel the world in search of local cuisines and dining experiences.

The show, however, was recently axed as Gordon pulled out, with Gino announcing at the time: “Breaking News…

“Unfortunately we will no longer be filming #GordonGinoandFred mainly because @gordongram is too busy working on his hair highlights in USA.

“But don’t worry guys, @fred_sirieix and I have a plan #JustinGinoandFred Coming soon…….GDx.”

And Gordon already has a huge link to Strictly, as his daughter Tilly Ramsay is currently competing in the main line-up of the show with professional partner Nikita Kuzmin.

He’s been appearing on the show both in the audience and via sweet video messages for his daughter.

And rumours have been abounding that the BBC are looking to secure Gordon for a contract, as one source revealed to The Mail on Sunday: “There’s a feeling that there’s some blatant favouritism going on here – that they are pushing Tilly to win, or at least get to the final, because they want to nick her dad.”

Now fans are fuming at the ‘favouritism’ shown to Gordon, allegedly in order to satisfy an agenda.

One posted: “Fred Sirieix? So Gordon gets to stay in the audience a while longer…”

Someone else followed up: “#ItTakesTwo Tom and Amy barely hiding their disgust at the rigged results from Saturday. But hey, the Ramsay double act cooking show is all that matters at the Beeb!”

While some fans were left fuming at the announcement, others were thrilled

As another fan ranted: “Coincidental that Gordon’s former co-star has been picked for #Stricty xmas special? I think not… #ItTakesTwo.”

However, others were chuffed to bits to see the line-up so far, as one penned: “Can’t wait!”

“I certainly will be watching!” another chimed in.

And Fred himself couldn’t contain his excitement, as he tweeted in response to the announcement: “I am so excited to announce I will be competing on #strictlycomedancing #Christmas #special with @dbuzz6589!

“What an adventure this is! I always wanted to represent #France @Olympics and this is my opportunity! This is a dream come true @bbcstrictly.”

Strictly Come Dancing continued Saturday at 6:45pm on BBC One
