Strictly's Craig Revel Horwood replacement rumours including ex-judge Alesha Dixon

Strictly Come Dancing’s long-standing judge Craig Revel Horwood will have to miss this Saturday’s Musicals Week show after testing positive for Coronavirus.

Craig’s presence on the episode will be missed – who else will be able to provide no-nonsense, all guns blazing critiques as the remaining celebs dance their way to the Glitterball.

The question now begs who, if anyone, will be taking Craig’s coveted spot on the judging panel whilst he is isolating?

Top names circling at the moment are Elaine Paige and Michael Ball, as well as former judges Darcey Bussell and Alesha Dixon.

The conversation of who could be replacing Craig this weekend was discussed on hit ITV daytime show Lorraine.

Dr Amir predicted who it could possibly be, he said: “it could be Elaine Paige, Michael Ball or Beverley Knight. Beverley is my favourite out of those two. I think she’s fabulous, she’d be great.

“It might give the dancers a break from Revel Horwood stare.”

Strictly is not short of glamorous stars to fill the place of Craig – now on its 19th series, this could be one of just a handful of times when a guest judge has had to step in for one of the four regular judges.

Donny Osmond stood in as a guest judge in the twelfth series whilst American actor Alfonso Ribiero stood in for Bruno Tonioli for the fifth week of the sixteenth series.

Anton Du Beke has taken a regular spot on the panel in place of Tonioli who cannot be there in person as a result of Covid-19 restrictions.

Darcey Bussell is a popular choice on social media.

One fan tweeted: “Bring back Queen Darcey to save the day and give out sensible scores/save the correct couple in the dance off.”

Another added: “Emergency Darcey Bussell to replace Craig this weekend.”

BBC bosses have not revealed whether Craig will definitely be replaced but it would be great to have a face from Strictly’s past return and mix up the judging panel for Musicals Week.

Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday at 6.35pm, with the results show on Sunday, November 21 at 7.15pm on BBC One.
