Susanna Reid forced to step in after awkward Good Morning Britain tech blunder

Good Morning Britain’s Susanna Reid had to step in as Jason Donovan’s camera froze in an awkward live television moment.

Former Neighbours star Jason, 52, and Loose Women’s Brenda Edwards, 52, were on the show chatting to Susanna and Adil Ray about their exciting return to the theatre as lockdown restrictions continue to relax.

Brenda will be returning to her role as Motormouth Maybelle in the Hairspray’s UK tour, while Jason Donovan will be a producer for the upcoming Priscilla Queen of the Desert UK tour.

However, as Jason was discussing his new theatre venture, his camera froze.

His voice could still be heard, but his video completely froze and then the sound cut out entirely.

Susanna quickly said: “One of the brilliant things about stage shows opening up again is that we can see you moving Jason.

“The trouble with these endless zoom calls and streams is that unfortunately, you’ve frozen.”

Susanna quickly asked Brenda a question and the technical gaffe was soon resolved.

Earlier this week, Susanna sent her fans into meltdown as she debuted her new short hair-do on the ITV programme.

She made her return alongside Adil after a week’s break away from GMB.

Viewers gushed over her new look as Susanna flaunted her shorter do.

Susanna, 50, had also added a flurry of stylish blonde highlights to her gorgeous locks.

One fan tweeted: “Susanna, just wanted to say your hair looks lovely and you look really really stunning on GMB this AM.”

“You look stunning today Susanna. Your hair looks fantastic”, gushed a fourth.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
