The Chase fans fume as celebrities lose £45,000 for charity in final showdown

The Chase viewers were left devastated on Sunday afternoon as the team of celebrities lost £45,000 in the final showdown.

Host Bradley Walsh was on hand to help Giles Coren, Rachel Johnson, Chris Packham and Josie Long as they battled it out against Paul Sinha aka The Sinnerman.

Giles, Rachel and Josie all managed to make it to the final chase but in a heartbreaking turn of events, they lost a huge sum of £45,000.

While the celebs wouldn’t go home empty handed with a small amount of money still going to their chosen charities, viewers weren’t impressed.

Viewers watching at home took to Twitter to vent as the huge sum of money was taken away from the famous faces.

One fan wrote: “Nooooo gutted for them, they played so well. #thechase @ITV.”

Another added: “Why would he do that. When its for charity..”

“There’s something really weird about the satisfaction of the chasers stopping celebs winning money for charity,” a third posted.

Someone else tweeted: “They really gave him the question “the sum of 6 & 7 is what?” Complete joke. Those charities deserved that money… #TheChase.”

The Sinnerman was in the hot seat on Sunday afternoon

Food writer Giles kicked off the quiz this evening as he managed to bag £40,000 for the prize pot.

He was followed by Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s sister Rachel who chose to play it safe and won £4,000 and returned to the panel for the Final Chase.

Unfortunately nature photographer Chris took a risk to play for £50,000 but lost at the final hurdle.

It was then up to Josie to win more money but make it back for the final round.

Chris Peckham didn’t make it though to the final chase

She opted for the lower offer of £1,000 and won, taking the total to £45,000 to be split between the stars’ chosen charities.

The trio managed to answer 17 questions correctly and had an additional three steps in the final chase.

It seemed as though they could win as Paul answered several questions incorrectly given them the chance to pushback.

Speeding up as the Final Chase came to an end, he robbed the celebs of £45,000 in the final two seconds.
