The Chase's Shaun Wallace looks completely different with beard on This Morning

Shaun Wallace looked almost unrecognisable during his appearance on This Morning on Thursday, swapping his clean-shaven look for something more rugged.

The Chaser appeared alongside his co-stars Anne Hegerty and Mark Labbett on the show, chatting with hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield about their new series The Chaser’s Road Trip: Trains, Brains and Automobiles.

On The Chase, Shaun – also known as the Dark Destroyer – usually appears wearing a pair of spectacles, working a sophisticated two-piece suit and tie.

However, for his ITV appearance this week, Shaun swapped the suit for a pale blue floral shirt, ditching his specs completely.

Despite his trendy outfit, it was his facial hair that grabbed viewers’ attention, as they exclaimed over his handsome salt and pepper beard.

This Morning viewers were smitten after laying eyes on Shaun’s beard for the first time

Taking to Twitter, one viewer said: “Shaun has got a beard and is smiling!”

A second added: “Loving the beard Shaun!”

“Shaun suits his beard,” wrote a third.

Shaun’s new show will see the Chaser team up with Anne and Mark for a spectacular road trip across the US, meeting the brainiest creatures from the animal kingdom.

In one episode, the Chasers get to know Kanzi, a Bonobo ape who is able to communicate with humans with clever use of pictures and symbols.

The trio also becomes friends with an orang-utan named Katie, who is known as a talented gamer in the monkey world.

Speaking about the new show, Shaun admitted it helped him to look at his intelligence in a new light, as they encountered genius species before the cameras.

He said: “I know that I am bright, but discovered that I’m clever in a different way to the other two, because there are different forms of intelligence, such as, you have got emotional intelligence.

“You’ve got common sense, and I would like to think that I’ve got that in abundance. The mere fact that you may have an IQ of a million, it doesn’t make you any more superior to anyone else, because you have got to use your intellect in different ways, in different situations.”

He finished: “You have got to have that empathy, that’s just me, only in comparison to my companions.”

This Morning airs on weekdays at 10am on ITV.
