The Wanted's Tom Parker reveals devastating moment he was diagnosed with cancer

The Wanted star Tom Parker revealed on Stand Up 2 Cancer that he wasn’t allowed anybody around him when he was diagnosed with cancer.

Tom, 33, revealed in October 2020 that he had been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour after suffering a seizure just several months earlier.

The dad-of-two was rushed to Norfolk Hospital while his wife Kelsey had to remain at home with their children due to coronavirus restrictions.

During a chat with Davina McCall, Tom recalled the moment consultants gathered around him and “closed the curtain” to reveal the devastating news.

Tom bravely revealed he was alone when he received his shattering diagnosis

Addressing viewers who may be diagnosed with cancer, he said: “You’ve got to have a positive mindset, cancer can consume you very quickly and very easily.

“There was a time at the start of this journey where I couldn’t really get out of bed, I was just so consumed by cancer.”

Tom continued: “It wasn’t the physical side of things, it was the mental side of things really, all I was thinking is ‘I’m going to die’, what’s the point in getting out of bed.”

Tom shared his diagnosis with his Instagram followers, saying: “There’s no easy way to say this but I’ve sadly been diagnosed with a brain tumour and I’m already undergoing treatment.

“We decided, after a lot of thought, that rather than hiding away and trying to keep it a secret, we would do one interview where we could lay out all the details and let everyone know the facts in our own way.”

He continued: “We are all absolutely devastated but we are gonna fight this all the way.

“We don’t want your sadness, we just want love and positivity and together we will raise awareness of this terrible disease and look for all available treatment options.

“It’s gonna be a tough battle but with everyone’s love and support we are going to beat this.”
