Tipping Point sparks fury as host Ben Shephard unveils 'disappointing' mystery prize

Tipping Point fans were left feeling rather unimpressed on Friday afternoon, after a contestant won a mystery prize which some could only describe as “s**t”.

Alison came on the show with hopes of making her way to the final round of the popular quizzing programme, however to her disappointment she was beaten by her component Steve at the final hurdle.

But Alison didn’t leave the show empty handed, as she won an automated massage bed as her mystery prize.

However, the player’s prize wasn’t well received by viewers at home, as they took to Twitter to share how disheartened they were.

One fan penned: “That prize would have been s**t 30 years ago on Bullseye.”

Another said: “Everyone has room in their house for a camp bed that does a shite massage.”

A third wrote: “S**t mystery prize going straight on eBay.”

While another disappointed viewer chimed in and questioned: “An automated massage bed? Is that even allowed on daytime TV?”

Ben gave Alison a rather disappointing prize

But despite the negativity online, Alison appeared to be very pleased to be going home with her massage bed and expressed her gratitude to presenter Ben Shephard.

Later on in the programme, Steve was the player left in the final round and did pretty well for himself.

However, when faced with the prospect of taking home the jackpot prize of £10,000 or keeping the £3,050 that he earnt, an unconfident Steve decided to go for the latter.

Steve’s choice ended up losing him the major cash prize as Ben showed him what could have happened if he had taken the trade.

Jumping on Twitter once again, Tipping Point fans aired their views.

One fan said: “Steve is probably the type of person who’d take a minus on #TheChase!”

“If only Steve had more counters,” another commented.

While a third surprised fan exclaimed: “Steve misses out on the jackpot!”

However, Steve remained positive and told Ben that he was still impressed with the money he won and might use the cash to fly to India.

Tipping Point airs weekdays at 4pm on ITV.
