Vanessa Hudgens slammed as she enjoys time in Scotland despite pandemic

Vanessa Hudgens, 32, was slated after she posted a series of pictures while enjoying a crisp walk on the streets of Scotland recently, as many were stunned by her actions in the middle of a pandemic.

Scotland is currently under lockdown, with residents advised only to leave their homes to take exercise or go for a walk once a day.

And while Vanessa is in the UK to film her latest movie, the actress suffered an immediate backlash from her post.

Sharing a story captioned “Monday morning” and an album of posed shots to her Instagram page, the High School Musical star joked: “Hi, I’m Vanessa and I love bridges and scrunchy socks. Lol.”

Vanessa Hudgens has been criticised for posting pictures of her out in Scotland.

Noticing straight away the bridge in the background was one of Scotland’s Forth Bridges, people took to Twitter in shock.

“Why the f**k is Vanessa Hudgens cutting about Scotland in the middle ae a pandemic??? GO HAME [sic],” one person raged.

“Vanessa Hudgens posting a photo with the Forth Road Bridge in the back killed me off today,” another stunned fan posted.

A third tried to reason: “Get that she’s working on a film and that, but Jesus Christ we’re all grounded by the government and she just prancing about getting pics for the ‘gram like we’re not still in a pandemic.”

Vanessa Hudgens posted a series of snaps in the cold out for a walk in the Edinburgh area

While a fourth ordered: “Oh Vanessa Hudgens is in Scotland? Get her out of there and stan the true Scottish queen.”

A fifth angry wrote: “Is it time for Vanessa Hudgens to be a total moron again?”

“The fact that Vanessa Hudgens is just roaming about Edinburgh actually blows my mind, casually putting a story up with the bridges in it saying ‘Monday mornings’ like what?” another fan added, followed by another criticism: “Didn’t realise Vanessa Hudgens was an essential worker.”

Other fans defended The Princess Switch actress, and reminded the angry commenters of the rules, as one person fumed: “People really trying to hate on Vanessa Hudgens for working in Scotland? If you do then please send your frustrations to Robert Pattinson and his crew and also tell Tom Cruise to ‘go home’. Both are filming movies in the UK/have done over the last few months. The freaking misogyny.”

Vanessa Hudgens was criticised for her comments about the pandemic last year

“Vanessa Hudgens getting hate for going on a government allowed daily walk and posting a picture whilst out on it which 100% of the public are perfectly also in their rights to do? Also the film is literally giving work to a lot of people in the arts in Scotland after a tough year,” another fan ranted.

A third also noted the double standard, saying: “Nicole Kidman filmed a movie in Northern Ireland a month ago and went on a walk, as she was perfectly allowed to do (when cases were rapidly rising), and she got praise for it, no-one told her to go home. For anyone hating on Vanessa Hudgens. Selective cancel culture at its finest.”

It comes following last year’s controversy when Vanessa apologised for an “insensitive” video on her Instagram that appeared to question the seriousness of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Even if everybody gets it, like yeah, people are going to die, which is terrible… but inevitable?” the Netflix movie star wrote at the time, claiming her comments had been taken out of context at first.

On reflection, the actress admitted her words were “not at all appropriate” and that she’d had a “huge wake up call”.
