Victoria Beckham flogs flares for £700 to save fashion brand as it loses £16.6m

Victoria Beckham is trying to revive the fortunes of her ailing fashion firm – with £700 flares.

Flares are back in fashion and Victoria hopes to cash in.

She’s flogging jeans with monster turn-ups for a whopping £390, voluminous bright green trousers for £690 and patchwork denims for £450.

Victoria said of her new collection: “The Spring Summer 2021 collection is rooted in reality – in life and living.

“But it’s a dream inspired by reality. There’s strong tailoring, sharp colour, modernity.

“Fluid, jersey dresses with keyhole cut-outs sit alongside 70s-inspired tailoring with wide lapels and elongated hems. Denim is high-waisted and wide-legged, pairing effortlessly with soft shirting and colourful knits.

“Eclectic and free, the collection captures the attitude and nonchalance of the VB woman, celebrating her ability to explore, to dress up and to be herself.”

And singer-turned-designer said of her flared patchwork jeans: “The Spring 2021 collection has a decidedly 70s mood, with wearable separates like these flared indigo jeans.

“Cut from vintage denim in a wide-leg silhouette, the high-rise style is punctuated by patchwork detailing.”

Victoria’s fashion brand reportedly lost £16million as she made more money through her music career (Image: Getty Images for BFC)

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Victoria earned more money from her pop career than fashion last year.

Her music firm Moody Productions netted £3.3million — while her fashion firm made pre-tax losses of £16.6million.

Victoria, 46, made nearly £1million by not singing with the Spice Girls on their 2019 reunion tour.

She was entitled to a fifth of the takings for endorsements, licensing deals and merchandising generated by the gigs.

That was despite leaving Mel C, 47, Geri Horner, 48, Emma Bunton, 45, and Mel B, 45, to do them without her.

Her fashion firm, Victoria Beckham Ltd, owned by multiple shareholders, cut 20 staff — a fifth of its workforce — last year in response to Covid-19.

Despite £14.5million in dividends from umbrella firm Beckham Brand Holdings, Victoria netted just £641,667 in director’s pay from her fashion firm — five times less than her pop pay.
