Among the upcoming competing celebrities, Tom Fletcher has found himself a spot on the dancefloor, and has officially been announced to take part in the dancing show.

The 36-year-old musician has also officially revealed his participation on the iconic series, after telling his fans in an exciting Instagram post that he could “genuinely not wait” for the show to start.

The McFly singer is currently preparing to win the hallowed Glitterball trophy, and there’s no doubt that his background in showbiz could come as an advantage during the contest.

Tom has years of experience making music and knows all about the rhythm as well as keeping up with the beat.

Who is Tom Fletcher?

Tom Fletcher was born on July 17 in 1985 in Harrow, London and attended the Sylvia Young Theatre School where he met his future wife, Giovanna Falcone. The couple tied the knot in 2012.

The songwriter’s first experiences with the music industry included musical theatre, and has even starred as the main role in Oliver! At the London Palladium.

Tom’s life revolved around music as his younger sister, Carrie Hope Fletcher, is a musical theatre actress and his schoolmates included Matt Willis, the bassist for Busted, despite losing a spot on the pop-punk band.

Tom had originally auditioned to be part of Busted, but lost his place to singer Charlie Simpson.

Nevertheless, his music career had only started as he joined the band’s songwriting team instead as a result of Busted’s music label’s interest in his writing talents, a skill he had acquired from a young age when Tom began writing music commercially.

The music artist was later invited by Busted’s record label to audition for a new band, where he met his future McFly bandmate and lead guitarist, Danny Jones.

Danny and Tom moved into the InterContinental Hotel in London for a period of two months, where they wrote Mcfly’s debut album, Room on the 3rd Floor.

The pair brought the last McFly members in, consisting of bassist Dougie Poynter and drummer Harry Judd, who they recruited via a classified advertisement.

The music talents finally named their band after Tom’s favourite movie: Back to the Future and its lead character, Marty McFly.

The band was propelled to fame after opening for Busted on their tour in 2004 and making it into the Guinness Book of World Records as the youngest band to have a debut album go straight to number one, beating the Beatles’ record.

However, Tom had more projects in mind as he went on to write children’s books and even make YouTube vlogs.

The vocalist’s composing talents have been brought to write for multiple popular bands including One Direction, the Vamps and 5 Seconds of Summer.

“Dancing competitor” will now be added to his long list of accomplishments as he will be paired up with a professional dancer next month and appear on BBC’s popular TV contest.
