A Place in the Sun star was pole dancer and would 'give kidney' to be on Strictly

A Place in the Sun star Craig Rowe may exude professionalism on the show, but he definitely isn’t afraid to let his hair down when the mood strikes.

He even enjoys the rather racy hobby of pole dancing – and says he’d “probably give his right kidney” for a stint on Strictly Come Dancing.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star, Craig dished on what he likes to do outside of work, explaining: “I’ve always been quite active, so I’ve dabbled over the years in running, […] HIIT workouts, yoga. I like going for walks out in the countryside and hiking, that kind of thing.

“Obviously I love travel. It’s much harder now, but I’ve always loved travel from the time I worked as a tour guide when I was 19. I think I was the youngest tour guide to ever work for that company!

“When I was 25, I bought my first property in London with my sister. Neither of us could afford to buy [somewhere] ourselves at the time.

“We both had three jobs at the time and we just decided to buy somewhere together in North West London, and that spurred my love for property.

He went on: “Over the years, when I’ve been doing up properties that has taken up loads of time, so I wouldn’t quite say it’s a hobby but definitely something that, when I get to the end of it, I feel really proud and it’s something I enjoy.”

But the star added: “I also love dancing! For a long time, I was in a dance company in London, and we used to put on shows. I’ve danced on stage at concerts all over the place, and for a while I also did male pole dancing.

“I would probably give my right kidney to be on Strictly!”

Ahead of his stint on Channel 4 travel show A Place in the Sun, Craig has starred on everything from QVC commercials to This Morning as the gadget expert.

But meeting his heroes was a little nerve-wracking, as he explained: “When I did This Morning I was so nervous, because Eamonn and Ruth, they’re household names!

“They were so, so sweet and so kind! And then when i’ve been chatting to Danni [Menzies] from A Place in the Sun, I was completely starstruck.”

It isn’t just Strictly Craig has his eye on – as he’s keen on US Netflix show Selling Sunset, too.

He added: “I’ve been watching A Place in the Sun for years, so I watched loads more of that in preparation. But I’ve also watched Selling Sunset and I think it’s fabulous. I’d love to be on there, but I could never get away with those heels!”

Catch Craig’s first episode of A Place in the Sun on Friday, January 7 on Channel 4.
