BBC Breakfast fans concerned as Dan Walker and Sally Nugent still missing from show

BBC Breakfast fans were left worried for permanent presenters Dan Walker and Sally Nugent on Tuesday (February 15) after their continued absence from the morning programme.

The hosts, who can usually be found on the red sofa from Monday to Wednesday each week, were missing on both Monday and Tuesday this week.

Taking their places were temporary presenters Nina Warhurst and Jon Kay – who failed to address Dan and Sally’s absence.

Taking to Twitter to share their concerns, one viewer wrote: “#BBCBreakfast get Sally Nugent & Dan thingy back ASAP!!”

Another worried fan said on Monday: “Have Dan & Sally got Valentine’s Day off or Jon+1 finally replaced them?”

However, others were praising the new presenting duo, as one tweeted: “YES!!! Nina, you should be on, on Mon to Wed!”

“Loved having Jon and Nina for company this morning. Great pairing!” someone else echoed.

It comes as Dan confirmed a brand new project with Sally and his Strictly Come Dancing partner Nadiya Bychkova – which could explain why they’ve gone missing from the programme.

Dan and Nadiya are teaming up together for the Burrow Strictly Ball, to be held in Leeds this March to raise funds for the Rob Burrow Centre for MND.

As well as joining the judging panel, the duo will be competing in the dancing competition – and Sally will also join as a contestant.

It makes sense, then, that rehearsals for the competition might be taking up some extra time for both stars.

Dan originally announced the news on Twitter, writing: “Very excited to tell you we are all taking part in the @Burrow_strictly on March 19th in Leeds to raise money for @mndassoc with @Rob7Burrow.

“Nadiya Bychkova and I will be judging (mostly Nadiya) & doing a dance (mostly Nadiya) & @sallynugent is competing!!! #GoOnSal.”

Posting snaps of Sally and Nadiya together, Dan teased: “My TV professional partner had a little taster session with the 2 time World Champion last week (she’s quite good).”

In a video posted to the site, Dan explained: “You might be wondering what on earth we’re doing together – well, there’s a good reason because we’re all taking part in an amazing charity event.”

Sally added: “Yeah we will all be at the Rob Burrow Strictly Charity Ball which is raising money for MND and it’s going to be on the 19th of March. And these two are going to dance!”

Turning to Nadiya, Dan asked: “Are we waltzing? And we’ll be judging as well. And Sally is actually going to be dancing her debut.”

However, neither Dan nor Sally have officially addressed their absence from BBC Breakfast on social media.

BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.
